Candidates to run for the Presidential elections 2017 had received their candidacy confirmation papers on May 27 which was an unusual event for most of Mongolians as the candidates were cheered by the supporters at the Freedom Square, in the front of the General Election committee. 

According to the law, the candidates and parties are eligible to open their donation accounts after the issuance of confirmation papers. The candidates and parties must register their accounts with the General Election Committee, General Taxation Office and the National Audit office within 5 days. The National Audit Office set the maximum ceiling of the expenses: for candidates MNT3.9 billion (approx.US$1.6 m) and for parties MNT6.9 billion (approx.US$2.8 m).
